thoughts on lip balms
my general thoughts are that lip balm is greasy, but wearing it is preferable to having chapped and burned lips. here's all the lip balms i've tried.
if i still don't like the taste or feel of a lip balm after a few tries, i end up using it on my hands, elbows, and knees, where i would normally use balms. this works for me due to my eczema-prone skin needing constant moisture, and having that moisturiser be sun protective as well is a huge bonus to me.

a mild sweet-smelling stick balm, slightly minty feel. doesn't feel too waxy on the lips, helped by the fact that it absorbs/dries down fast. this is probably the baseline i compare other lip balms against.

another stick balm. smells a little like burnt sugar, tastes vaguely sweet but not intrusively so.

a stick balm that smells like vanilla. no particularly strong feelings about it but it is convenient due to being cheap.

more neutral in taste than scented balms, and smells very much like regular face sunscreen. feels surprisingly light when it dries down.

i have vanilla, watermelon, and strawberry, and haven't noticed a large difference between the three. i wanted to like them due to the variety in taste, but it is very sweet and thick and pills horribly. over time it can start to feel a bit grainy coming out of the tube.

much more of a goop than a wax. smells and feels a bit minty, with a mild sweetness to it.
